Even though my favorite sessions are Adventures of Home (in and around your home) documentary sessions, I still love a good on-location family session, especially when the family is this much fun to work with!  They were truly just themselves…casual and laid back about what the kids where doing and okay with it all.  This really does make for a great family session.  When you embrace what’s going on, rather than try to control it, you get some really nice, natural expressions and all the love shows through!  So, we got a variety of images as you’ll see here, some with a tiny bit of direction on my part, but a lot of  just letting the kids roam and play.  I love this location at Springfield Lake in Springfield, MO,  as it’s never that crowded and there are always interesting scenes to choose from and explore.  Yep, to have a Lifestyle family session, like this one, I could do this all day long!

It’s probably the MOST asked question I get about Senior Photography….”what should I wear?”

This, along with…”How many outfits can we fit into one session?”

SO, here’s the scoop, at least from what I’ve found over the years:

3-4 outfits (almost always 3, maybe…4)  is what I can fit into  a 2-1/2 hour period, which is usually what Senior sessions run with all the outfit changes/location changes.

Choosing what to wear:   I love the outfits chosen in this Senior session from last year!  She did a great job choosing a variety (casual, fun, and more dressy), for her session.  I LOVE the Captain America shirt!  Outfits aside, how about her awesome hair??  Have a look at these 4 groupings and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

The most important thing….BE COMFORTABLE!  By “be comfortable”, I mean, don’t wear something that you feel totally self-conscious in, or feel like you need to tug on to keep in place, etc.  These expressions will come through in the images.  Be comfortable and be YOU!  Don’t try to look like someone else or wear something for the first time here….BE YOU (whether it’s bright colors, black, fancy dress, or sneakers), be comfortable,  and I promise your images will reflect your true beautiful personality!!

A few weeks ago, we made another trip to City Museum in St.Louis. Such a great place to explore and endless adventure. I’ll post more images from this trip soon, but this one is featured
over at the www.cherishthisday.com blog, so thought I’d share here. More to come soon…

More and more, I am using my iPhone camera and learning all it can do!  It’s just so handy and, as a Mom,

I just really can’t lug my “big camera” everywhere.  Don’t get me wrong, there are things I love

about this camera, and don’t like, BUT in a lot of ways, it really DOES simplify how I shoot.  It forces me

to really look for the light  (and no, I don’t use the flash…EVER!).  Hoping to post more of these phone

images soon and discuss some of the techniques for getting better results using iPhone as your main

camera!:)
